The patio is done!

The patio is done! The vision I saw years ago has been realized! Today we rented a paver saw and made magic happen.

Steve manned the equipment that could take off a leg. Very manly, Babe!

True story: A friend came to help for the last few hours so we could get the rental returned in time. We barely finished and the three of us were racing to get the saw cleaned up when she looked over and saw Steve's fingers bleeding all over the machine. She yelled at him to get inside and get cleaned up. Good thing she was paying attention. Apparently, his fingers were so raw from cutting all the pavers that once the water touched his hands it softened them up and the blood started flowing. It took him several days to fully use his hands again.

So here is my takeaway. Laying pavers is dangerous (paver saw), backbreaking, mind numbing work. I would do it again in a heartbeat to save a buck, but brick layers deserve every single cent they charge.
