J is 11

J is 11! I can't believe it. That boy had a rough start, but he has turned into a delightful human. Absolutely delightful. He has a stable, solid feeling about him. He observes the world around him. He is a stickler for rules. He wants the world to make sense. He loves playing basketball, Nintendo Wii and Nitro Type (a typing game) where he averages 80 wpm. He is playful yet quietly, wickedly funny. Not much of a snuggler or a hugger, but he loves to be near animals and is so sweet with them. We love you J!

After a quick trip to Walmart for skateboards and scooters, we headed to the skate park for our first time. Serendipitously we ran into one of my friends who is on a roller derby team. She was amazing and gave the kids tips while showing off her impressive tricks. Thank you!

Steve had a few runs while remembering his glorious skateboarding days of yore.

Beautiful birthday boy.

We ended the night carving pumpkins.

The next day we were finally able to eat the dessert (it had to cool for a long time): chocolate cake baked in a pie pumpkin topped with butterscotch sauce. Oh.My. Gosh. I don't even like chocolate, but it was so good we all died and went to heaven.

Be still my heart.
That smile...
Those eyes...

And for dinner: soup in a pumpkin. We really leaned into the season.

Happy birthday Baby!
