I have always wanted to go to Golden Spike National Historical Park to see a reenactment of when the first transcontinental railroad connected and today was the day. We went to the Railroad Museum in Sacramento a few years ago and it was very interesting and informative. I appreciated how they told history as it happened and not as they wished it had. I am glad we went to Golden Spike and while there is some mention of race relations, there is ample opportunity to tell a more complete story particularly during the reenactment. Overall we had a good experience and Steve and I spent the ride home fleshing out details that were glossed over or ignored.
The evening ended with s'mores in the backyard. Sure do love these humans.
