Having Louie in the house for a month made me aware of how much the kids (and Steve) benefit from animals. But here's the fact...by the end of the month the kids were tiring of walking him and cleaning up his poop and were finding increasingly more creative ways of avoiding the task.
So Steve and I did some soul searching and eventually Steve was able to admit (though it pains him to say it) he is a cat person and we are a cat family. So world, here we are making the announcement...WE ARE CAT PEOPLE!!! We just can't fight the truth. Dogs are so much work. We like the benefit of loving animals without all the extra work. Feed and water once a day, scoop kitty litter a couple times a week. That's the right amount of work for us.
So with the reminder of how much everyone else in the family needs animals in their life, I started searching for a cat in need of a home. And we found one. Her name is Noki. She is 4.5 years old. Her previous owners describe her as loving, timid, adores blankets, sweet, good with kids, and affectionate though it will take some time to warm up to us.
We talked to the kind owners several times before meeting her. Noki is petite and very pretty. We brought her home and surprised the kids. Now is the part where we get to know her and she gets to know us. Welcome home Noki!
