St Patrick's Day 2020

You want to know what holiday we have NEVER celebrated? St Patrick's Day. I can barely pull it together for big holidays let alone the made up ones. However, self imposed quarantine put my kiddos in the mood to celebrate anything so we enjoyed what the fake day had to offer.

M, J, D, and C started the day dressed in green to avoid being inevitably pinched by their siblings. They asked if I was going to change into something green. I said no and M said that was fine because I had a secret weapon...my green eyes. Thank you Heavenly Father for my green eyes!

Then they decided to hunt leprechauns. They spent hours building and setting traps.

Catapult loaded with tempting green marshmallows.

Pony beads disguised as gold.

Green cup to trap a green leprechaun.

A zip line from the play set to a stick that would knock the leprechaun unconscious.

A green marshmallow baited popsicle stick walk up to a trap.

A catapult into a web of twine covered boy.

A pot of pony beads masquerading as gold with tall sides to prevent the leprechaun from climbing out.

A slippery slide leading to a pot of gold at the end? Nope. More pony beads.

These creative kids hid out waiting to see how their traps fared.

Spot D.

When they didn't catch any leprechauns they decided to turn to the  all knowing internet to learn more about their intended target. Reading that leprechauns are three feet tall did not jive with their personal belief so they threw out that internet fact and concluded the leprechauns simply weren't biting.

Eventually M started looking for recipes and they chose to make green popcorn which met mixed reviews.

The night ended with root beer floats in honor of Steve's grandmother's birthday.

Despite my bah-humbugging, it was a lovely non-holiday.
