M, J, and D spent two hours making sugar cookies together while C napped and I read a book on the couch. I loved listening to them assign tasks and problem solve when they ran out of butter (they improvised with coconut oil). When Steve came home from work he commented that it was like watching a well oiled machine. M was putting cookie dough on a cookie sheet, J was pulling a batch from the oven, and D was sprinkling baked cookies with cinnamon and sugar. We are very blessed.
Steve and I are making an effort to read to the kids every night. This is not something we have done before because J could never sit still long enough to listen, but he, D and C love being read to now so we have made this a family goal. So far so good.
