On New Year's Eve M and J made leftover cranberry sauce muffins. They were delicious.
C had trouble getting dressed.
D and C built a pillow fort.
We contributed to the Giving Machine. It was a special experience to talk to the kids about the various needs individuals have and ways we can help. Steve chose lifesaving nutrition for a malnourished child, I chose a water tap and basin for a midwife, M chose 100 meals, J chose sending a child to soccer camp, D chose a trauma support backpack, and C chose three chickens.
Daddy read bedtime stories to the boys by the light of the tree. J and D begged to stay up until midnight, but fell asleep fifteen minutes after laying down.
M stayed up until midnight with us. She watched movies and drew with a sharpie on canvas. For Christmas, my brother's fiancee gave her a similar work of art she had done for M and ever since then M's artistic fingers have been tingling.
We toasted one another with Martinelli's.
At midnight we ran outside. Dad and M took turns banging a pot with a wooden spoon and yelling while Mom plugged her ears and smiled. Happy New Year!
