Backyard harvest 2019

This has been an exciting gardening year for us. We tried some new things.

Number 1) a drip system. Holy cow!! Where have you been all my life. It is a miracle. You put seeds/plants in the ground and then watch them grow and pick the bounty. Magical.

Number 2) We successfully grew 10 watermelons, 10 cantaloupe and 20 pumpkins. We also picked anywhere from 5-10 Armenian cucumber a day.

Our canning and freezing was awesome too. 6 pints of apricot syrup, 58 pints of peach syrup, 108 quarts of peaches, 25 1-gallon bags of frozen peaches, 3 1-gallon bags of frozen apples, and 135 quarts of grape juice.

Now because we have to balance out this crazy success I should mention we planted 18 tomato plants and only got a handful of tomatoes which was disappointing. We also had a less than stellar yield on our zucchini and crookneck squash. So that happened, but considering the awesomeness of the rest of the yard I think we can solidly count this season as a huge win.
