Colonial Days and cookies

I took the kids to the Museum of Natural Curiosity where they had a "choose your own adventure" featuring what it would have been like for the first explorers in America. We all made poor choices and none of us would have survived. Another reminder of how grateful I am to live in this day and age. The climbing wall was the most fun the kids had during our meander through the 1600's.

Once home, the kids made oatmeal raisin cookies while I read a book. When they took a wrong turn in the recipe they experimented with flour and milk until they reached the desired consistency. They were pretty proud of themselves and I was pretty proud of them too.

For dinner M helped whip up a batch of dutch babies and the kids were thrilled when the batter created a mountain.

C wanted to take them out of the oven, but that was not an option. He settled for wearing the oven mitts instead.
