M proudly identifies as Mexican and as she is getting older I really want to make sure she has something from the culture of her birth to ground her. Soooooo...we now celebrate Dia de Los Muertos. This is our first year so we are learning as we go. Thank you to Disney's Coco for such a beautiful movie that helped demystify the holiday. The other thing that helped was Thanksgiving Point and YouTube.
We headed to Thanksgiving Point for their Dia de Los Muertos celebration and it was pretty great. We were glad we went. We learned all about ofrendas and now have a better idea how to create one. Also we found a tamale vendor who is wheat free. They were the best tamales we have ever eaten. So stinking good.
M wanted to paint her face like a sugar skull so I got her the paint she needed and we watched several YouTube videos until she figured it out.
