Tis the canning season

Tis the season for canning. My days have been full of preserving the harvest. So what does a little boy do all day when Mom is up to her elbows in food and his siblings are at school?

He plays in the canning supplies.

He clips his nails.

He watch Sesame Street on YouTube.

And shouts for joy when his brother gets home so they can go on a pirate adventure.

Our peach trees were abundant. We got 29 pints of peach syrup, 74 pints of peaches, 5 1-gallon bags of frozen peaches, and countless peaches eaten fresh, grilled, and in shakes and cobblers. The kids even sold $60 worth and while they did not love the picking or selling part, they thought the money part was out of this world awesome.

Made grilled peaches for the first time. Absolute perfection.

In addition to peaches we also put up 81 quarts of grape juice, 13 pints of pickles, 12 1-gallon bags of frozen apples, and 14 frozen quarts of tomatoes. Tis the season!
