The Gorch Fock

A few years ago, as an Aunt Hildegarde gift, my Brother gave Steve a replica of the Gorch Fock, a German military ship built in 1933. He found this treasure at the thrift store and I am very sure he chose the gift because of its name. Nonetheless, it has sat in our basement gathering dust since the day we laughed and rolled our eyes.

But the Gorch Fock has risen again! M had to do a historical fiction book report and present it in a unique way. She and I read a completely depressing book called Stopping to Home about two orphaned children in a New England shipping town. After we were done talking about how awful it was, she summarized the book on waves and taped the title to the side of the ship. M was thrilled with the way it turned out.

Side note: I hold onto things because you just never know when you will need something random like...a model ship for instance.
