J's permanent teeth

Typically when a child looses a baby tooth, the permanent tooth is ready to take its place in the void. That is not the case in J's mouth. His baby teeth stay put and his permanent teeth come in wherever they want. This results in some unusual configurations. A few days ago he showed me that one of his permanent teeth was popping out the front of his top gum with the baby tooth intact and not very loose. Thankfully he had a dentist appointment today and the dentist pulled it at no charge. We were also warned that this boy will probably have his first set of braces in two years. (Yeah! Something to look forward to!)

The dentist was very impressed and asked if we had taken a picture. I said no and we paused so
I could document in visual form.

Proud of his new smile.

And the Tooth Fairy remembered to take the tooth
and leave a quarter.
