First swing at home

In the NICU the nurses told me C loved the swing so we gave it a try today. They were right. He really liked it.

M and D also wanted their pictures taken. I was more than happy to oblige.

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right, folks! We have grown. What once was four is now FIVE ! Little D joined us last week. Weighing in at 8 lbs 9 oz and 22 inches long he is our largest yet. He is an absolute joy and Steve and I could not be happier. How did this amazing blessing come our way? J's birthmom contacted us and explained she was pregnant and not in a position to parent and asked if we would want to. How did we respond? YES!!! AND CAN WE KISS THE GROUND YOU WALK ON? (Not exactly a direct quote, but pretty dang close.) We are so grateful for her and M's birthmom and for their sacrifice which allows us to be parents to THREE (can you believe it!) glorious children. J and D's birthmom asked Steve if he wanted to hold D first. Steve was thrilled. M could hardly wait her turn. Mommy had a hard time waiting too. J ran around the hospital room discovering what sound is made by slamming metal together. And then he realized Mommy was holding something and climbed up to investigate. So man...

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!!!!!! Steve and I are THRILLED to announce we have been blessed with a beautiful little boy! E was born on Oct 22. He weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and was 20 in long. He had a rough start, but he is healthy and thriving. We are in love. So is M. E's birth mom is such an amazing person who has given us a priceless gift. Thank you to all who have purchased bread, donated to our yard sale, and prayed for us. We are so grateful. Lots of family and friends stopped by to see our little miracle. When Steve's cousin and his wife dropped by they told us they were explaining adoption to their children and one of them said, "Stephen and Allyson would rather have babies than money." Out of the mouths of babes. Family of four. Trying to nap. M loves to hold E. Steve's friend carved E a special pumpkin. His first bath was traumatic. He cried real tears. All clean and ready for kisses.

Sick goat and a piano recital

TBD is not getting better. I have had the worst time trying to find help for this goat. Thankfully, I found someone with extensive goat knowledge, who offered to lance the bump. J and I loaded TBD into the minivan (yes, the minivan) and headed to the vet. It turned out to be a giant abscess filled with pus. J and I held the bucking and screaming goat while the vet cut a large slit in its side and we watched about a half cup of pus and blood pour on the ground. So, so nasty. The vet recommended I purchase antibiotics and needles. I went to several farm stores to get them but because of COVID they were sold out since people are ingesting animal meds instead of people meds. (Come on, people) I was finally able to locate an antibiotic from a friend but by then, I had run out of time to return to the farm. So we ended up bringing the goat back to our house, tying it up to the tree in our front yard, and me giving it a shot in the neck while it screamed and our children trie...
