Goodbye Anderson tube

C's Anderson tube has been draining his stomach contents since the surgery and we have been waiting for the color to change from green to yellow. (Bile is green and is created in the intestines. The idea is that once it changes colors, his intestines are healed.) Everyday we check the color hoping that today is the day.

Well the surgeon called us last night and told us he thinks C is ready to have his Anderson tube pulled! Huge news!!

Steve and I were excited to see him. He looks so different. More like a healthy baby and less like a sick little thing. And he loved that the pacifier was easier to keep in his mouth.

Another word about Steve. I have friends whose husbands will not change diapers. My husband not only changes diapers, but does it with obstacles the NICU throws at him. That is the sign of a true man; one who selflessly serves his wife and child. I am one blessed gal.

Now the goal is to get C to take milk from a bottle and increase his intake so he can come home.
