I often wonder if the manners I am teaching my kids are sinking in. I spend countless hours each day teaching them how to talk nicely to one another and hopefully fostering a sense of respect and sharing. This is what I overheard tonight.
D: "J, can I play with that car when you are done"?
J: "Sure. Or there's one downstairs".
D: "Oh yah! The red one"!
J: "Let's go get it"!
D: "Okay"!
They happily chatter to one another as they go downstairs and emerge with the a car for D and then they cheerfully sit next to each other and play cars.
My jaw is on the floor and I run to tell Steve the magical scene that just played out in our house. The kids really are listening! Hallelujah!
