J loves bread (from Eleanor's), butter, and honey and lately he has been asking if he "Can do it all myself?" I'm all for teaching independence so I let him give it a go while hanging back. When I let my kids try new things I also let them enjoy the consequences. Here was J's first attempt at buttering and honeying his bread.
I gagged and offered to help him thin out the butter, but he wanted to eat it as he had created it so I let him. I couldn't watch. He told me it was delicious and that he wants to continue with his new found freedom (my words, not his). I have resumed my buttering role.
