Slip sliding into the Bean Museum

Grammy and Grampy came for the day and brought a slip and slide! The kids loved it! The slipping and the sliding...what a perfect way to spend a toasty afternoon.

A favorite moment was when Grammy grabbed a water squirter and chased them around the yard.

Then off to the recently reopened Bean Museum. I have a friend who has been singing the praises of this places for ages, but it is on BYU campus and as alum of the University of Utah, Steve and I do our best to avoid Cougar Country.

But you know how I feel about anything free and the Bean Museum was just that so we meandered into enemy territory. And you want to know what? We'll be meandering that way again because this museum was such a neat and unexpected treat. The whole place was filled with dead animals that I hope to never see in their natural habitats, but am thrilled to see up close in stuffed form. (No, I have no desire to join an African safari thank you very much.)

The famous Hogle Zoo lioness. Unfortunately, she died in 1976 so I never saw her in her fake habitat.

J had to see this rotating exhibit. Would not rest until he did.

There was an elephant! How cool and completely out of the ordinary.

Grampy let the kids pick out a memento from the gift shop. M's leopard, J's dolphin (actually a killer whale), and D's zebra have become intregral members of our family. Heaven forbid they should go to bed without them.

After a trip to the creamery we headed back home. Thanks for the slip and slide and ice cream! And thanks for joining us on our grand adventure to a free and totally cool museum!
