Pioneer Day

Since we spent the 4th of July with my family we got to spend the 24th of July with Steve's. After much discussion we decided a hike and a run through the sprinklers would be a great way to celebrate. We headed up to Silver Lake.

J was not interested in hiking, but did not have a choice.

We could not get him to smile.

Thankfully, M's smile shined on.

Mickey Mouse rock.

Look at that smile. Be still my heart.

Look at those eyes. Be still my heart again.

Eventually, J was able to get close enough to the water that he could throw some rocks in and this changed his entire perception of the day. Suddenly, all was right in his world and he started smiling, laughing, hollering, and running.

But what goes up, must come down.
In his haste, he slipped and fell causing a deep gouge in his knee.

He never cried, but the joy was gone and he once again plodded along the trail.

D, on the other hand, was freed from the carrier and enjoyed his new found freedom.

I am the most blessed Mom in the world.

Ultimately, the hike was fabulous. We headed back to the in laws house and the kids ran through sprinklers squealing and laughing. They loved it. We loved it. Thanks for a perfect day!
