Battle Creek Falls

Due to a scheduling whoops, I got Memorial Day off. This turned out to be a great thing for family bonding. We searched high and low for a suitable child friendly hike and found it in the Battle Creek Falls trail. One mile round trip. That is our kind of hike.

Before we left M and J were excited.

Their tune changed once we started walking.
Notice the fake smiles.

Arriving at the waterfall helped take their minds off their troubles.

Everyone and their dog (literally) was hiking Battle Creek Falls. I have worked weekends and holidays for five years so I was in shock at the number of people who were traipsing around in nature.

We had a great time despite the throng and my kid's attitudes.

Resting from our strenuous hike. It was a long one miler.

D walked almost the entire way back to the car all by his lonesome. He is independent and had a great time falling in the dirt and getting back up again.

I got to carry D the last few steps to the car. By that time, Steve was carrying J and M was begging to be carried.

Steve snapped a shot of his next wishful conquest. Timp.
He will be on his own for that one.

To reward the children for being troopers on our four hour outdoor adventure, we stopped at 7-11 for 49 cent Slurpees. It was the perfect end to our Memorial Day celebrations.
