You choose

I have wondered what to call this post and I have decided to let you choose the title. Here are your options:

Been nice knowin' ya, EB

Another one bites the dust

Sickest Easter ever

I bet you can already tell this Easter was one for the record books. It started a few weeks ago when I decided the Easter Bunny has had an impressive run in our house and it was over. I really wanted to focus on the Reason for the Season. The tricky part was I didn't want to tell M that EB was a figment of imagination and then have her spill the beans at school so I channeled him and thanked him for his services. After clearing it with Steve we had this conversation over dinner.

Me: M, Easter is coming up.
M: YEAH!!!!
Me: I know! Isn't it exciting? Hey Baby, why do we celebrate Easter?
M: JESUS!!!!
Me: That's right! You know, I thought it would be nice if we focused on Him this year rather than the Easter Bunny.
M: Okay!
Me: So that's why I asked the Easter Bunny not to come this year.
M: What?

This is where I started a rambling explanation of how I spoke with EB and explained how grateful we were for years past, but we were going to focus on Jesus this year. And how he had replied he completely understood because it makes him sad when people focus on him rather than on Jesus. However, he made us promise to still color eggs and leave baskets in the morning because he thought that was fun for the kids. Through the whole spiel I was patting myself on the back for my inventiveness while M stared at me with ever-widening eyes. I just kept talking until her eyes looked more relaxed. Finally when I had finished my creative speech I asked M what she thought. Thankfully, she thought it was okay though she made sure there would be eggs and baskets. (Score: Easter Bunny 0, Mommy 1. Bye-bye bunny!)

So the week leading up to Easter was lovely as we focused on Christ and His sacrifice with huge emphasis on the Resurrection. Sadly on Thursday M threw up and J had respiratory problems that grounded us for two days. Saturday Steve took the kids to an Easter egg hunt while I worked.

The trampoline where M loved jumping until someone landed on her ankle. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

D was the only one of the three who was brave enough to sit near the mystical Easter Bunny. Well, him and Steve.

This face makes me laugh. It is the face he pulls in every single one of the Easter egg hunt pics. I have no idea why he is doing it, but what a hoot.

Finding eggs with Grammy and Grampy.

Getting prizes from their aunt. Thanks for inviting us!

Sunday was a great day with the hubby and kids. They woke up to Easter baskets and we focused on Jesus Christ's resurrection. It was exactly the feeling I hoped would be in our home.

We sprung for a jump rope. M has been obsessed with them since her teacher pulled one out at recess.

Bubbles are an Easter basket must.

J was a huge fan of the candy. Outside...

 ...and in.

That night I made an awesome dinner, but right in the middle of it J crawled into my lap, faced me and threw up all over me. Not exactly how I envisioned the dinner and there went my appetite. Poor J had never had a throw up marathon and was shocked every time the urge came over him. Thankfully, he turned toward me for comfort every time. I went through loads of clothes. M's response to all this was anger over not being able to color eggs.

Monday morning everyone seemed healthy enough to dye eggs. M and J loved the highly anticipated adventure.

Next year, Buddy.

J grabbed an egg and was surprised by the instant color change to his hand.

This years eggs were sponsored by "Touch of Gold". After dyeing, a sheen of gold glimmer was added to their hard shells. They sparkled like gold in the sun.

Then on Monday night Steve succumbed to the evil bug and spent the evening vomiting. Sadly this broke his vomit free record as the last time was when he was a kid living at  home. Again M's response was frustration over not being able to have an Easter egg hunt with the eggs we had colored that morning.

And that sums up our Easter. It was intense. I wonder if the vomiting streak was the Easter Bunny attempting to stage a coup? I'm just sayin'. Ya gotta wonder.
