Food allergies are sad

M and J deserved a treat for the day. They had been awesome and I rewarded their awesomeness with ice cream. M wanted hers in a cone and I gave her one before scooping a chunk of ice cream into a bowl for J. But he didn't want the bowl. He wanted a cone like his big sister. I told him there was wheat in the cone with a big, "So sorry Buddy", but to no avail. He was heartbroken and so was I. Denying him foods as he is getting older is becoming increasingly sad. Thankfully M saved the day. She put her arm around him, told him the ice cream was yummy, softly pinched his cheek until he smiled, and handed him his chocolate filled bowl. I sat back and watched as she expertly guided J to ice cream nirvana. Now that is one amazing big sister.
