The joy of reading

M has loved books since she was a few months old. I would hold her and we would read for a half hour when she was six months old before she was ready for a new activity. J is a completely different story. He is a year and a half and he is finally opening a book and holding it out to me. He curls up in my lap and I open the cover and read half a sentence before the book is hurled across the room. He runs over, picks it up, brings it back to me, curls up in my lap and the cycle starts all over again. This has been frustrating, but I go with it, because I have been hoping he will sit for longer than 2.2 seconds as long as I make it a positive experience. That day may be closer than I thought. Today I found M and J "reading" books side by side.
