Talk about a busy week!

We decided to take advantage of Wild Wednesday at the Hogle Zoo. The zoo offers a free day in November, December, January, and February. (Did you notice those are some of the coldest months of the year?) There are pros and cons to this. Pro: the zoo is free. Con: it is freezing. Pro: there are fewer people there. Con: it is freezing. Pro: the animals are much more active when the weather is cooler. Con: it is freezing.

We got to see very active rhinoceros (M did not love), mom and baby elephant (M loved), mom and baby giraffe (M loved), cheetah (M loved), sand cat (M LOVED), and gorilla (M did NOT love). In one picture you can see Zuri, the baby elephant in the background and in the other M kissing the glass where the sand cat was napping. So dang cute and very gross all at the same time. The consensus is this: if you can handle the cold, take advantage of Wild Wednesdays at the Hogle Zoo.

Sure hope your Thanksgiving was a lovely one! Ours was great. We were able to be with family, eat amazing food, and watch a movie. I decided to try my hand at cranberry orange cheesecake with orange glaze. Tragically, it looked nothing like the picture, but it was heaven in the mouth. Seriously, if you want the recipe I can get it for you. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water...

Yesterday we were able to be with my friend and watch her baby blessed. Such a sweet moment. He is their fourth child and only boy. That little guy is in danger of some serious spoiling!

To top off our week we spoke in church today on gratitude. Our hearts always sink a little when we are asked to speak, but we are glad we can delve into topics and learn more about them. That being said, it feels great to be done!

Hope your week was as jam packed with good things as ours was!

  1. Allyson! Welcome to the 21st century; you got yourself a blog, I see. I couldn't wait to check it out after receiving your Christmas letter! (thank you, by the way). You'll have to link over to mine to check in once in a while; and to see Jamie's too.
